The stakes are high in retail with surging violence and organized retail crime. The urgency of techniques and technologies needed to combat these pressing challenges was not lost on the attendees of ISC West.
LP/AP teams are working with IT and teams across retail to unify physical security systems in ways that empower security professionals and law enforcement with critical information required to make decisions in crisis situations. Industry stakeholders, including retailers, technology providers, integrators, law enforcement and others are collaborating to accelerate the implementation of unified security solutions that meet the demands of today’s situations.
Here are some of the key trends that are driving success.
- Retail is diversifying its investments to physical security technologies beyond video and exception reporting. Access control and analytics are among the hot new technologies retailers are leveraging to improve their visibility.
- Investments in analytics are powering knowledge within LP/AP teams and beyond. By pulling information from disparate sources and putting it in context, analytics elevate the value of each and every technology device.
- Partners are embracing open architecture, which helps accelerate visibility. Rather than favoring proprietary approaches, vendors are seeing the benefit of building collaborative ecosystems with other providers to achieve greater results more quickly.
- Recognizing that cybersecurity is a concern as we embrace the era of advanced technologies, LP/AP is building their awareness of cybersecurity challenges and working with IT to guard against cybersecurity breaches.
- LP/AP professionals are expanding the diversity of their teams. It was great to see so many women leaders in LP/AP at ISC West this year. By recruiting a diverse group of talented individuals, LP/AP can enhance its problem-solving abilities, expand the capabilities of the group, and build upon their already great team of security professionals.
