Technology advances have introduced a torrent of new terms, concepts and acronyms. Machine learning. AI. Datafication. Computer vision. These terms are commonly used, but at times the definitions are not clear and it can be difficult to determine where one concept ends and another begins. For our purposes here, let’s just say that AI is the simulation of human intelligence by machines. Computer vision describes how computers can gain insights from video – processing images in the same way that human vision works. If you think about it, technology is pretty amazing. But what does it mean to businesses?
Even in the midst of investing in and implementing these technologies, stakeholders don’t necessarily understand the full ramifications. About a year ago, I joined Darvis, provider of a productivity as a service platform that uses AI and computer vision to provide ultimate visibility. The future is exciting and it’s coming fast.
